Family photography
in London
Family photoshoots with me are relaxed, playful, and very real. There’s no posing and no trying to make your kids behave. Think of it as an hour of being together as a family, no phones, no distractions, while I quietly photograph what unfolds.
These sessions are perfect for families with babies over six months, toddlers, and older children. Most of the time, it feels like you’re just playing together. Running around, cuddling, laughing, being silly. The best photos happen while you’re having fun.
I’m a mum of two boys myself, so wild energy, big feelings, shyness, grumpiness or complete chaos really don’t faze me. Very often, I’ll spend time chatting or playing with your kids before I even take my camera out. Once we’re on friendly terms, everything flows much more easily.
Building a connection before we start
Before the session, I’ll ask you about your children. What they’re into right now, what they love, and what helps them warm up. I’ll come prepared with a few simple ideas, but there’s no strict plan. The more you lean into the mess, the silliness, and the connection, the better the photos become.
I’ll gently guide you when needed, but most of the time my job is to step back and let things happen. When you forget the camera is even there, that’s when I know it’s working. And honestly, that happens almost every time.
This is your chance to actually be in the photos with your kids, in a real way. The cuddles, the laughter, the in-between moments. The things that feel very “this is us”. Those are the moments that turn into memories.

Ania completely changed our minds.
“We’ve always hated having photos taken, but Ania completely changed our minds. Even our feisty, camera-hating 3-year-old was charmed, and now we have a gorgeous set of family photos we’ll treasure.”

FAQ
What should we wear?
I’ll help you with that. Once you book I recommend we have a little call to get to know each other better and we can talk outfits too. I try to avoid No matchy-matchy white tops and jeans situations.
We’d look for clothes that work with location, season and don’t make you feel like you’re in fancy dress (unless you want to!).
Once you book, I’ll guide you on what works well on camera and what feels comfortable, so you don’t have to stress or overthink it.
Where do family photo sessions take place?
Family sessions can happen at your home, outdoors, or in a location that feels meaningful to you.
Some families love the comfort of being at home. Others prefer a park, woodland, beach, or somewhere their kids can explore freely.
I’m based in Coulsdon and work across London, Surrey, Kent, and East Sussex, and I’m always happy to help you choose a location that suits your family best.
What if my kids don’t behave or don’t want photos?
Honestly, I never expect kids to be on their best behaviour. That’s not what this is about.
They don’t need to sit still or smile on command. Kids can be shy, wild, grumpy, loud, or completely uninterested at first. I’ll guide things with simple, playful prompts and follow their lead, so they can just be themselves. We roll with whatever energy they bring, and that’s usually where the best moments come from.
I’m a mum of two energetic boys myself, so very little surprises me.
We’re awkward in front of the camera. Will you tell us what to do?
Yes, always. You’ll never be left wondering what to do with your hands.
I’ll gently guide you throughout the session with easy prompts and simple direction, but nothing stiff or forced. Most of the time it feels more like playing or hanging out together than “having your photo taken”. Once you relax and focus on your kids, you’ll usually forget the camera is even there.
What does “storytelling” family photography actually mean?
It means I focus on how your family feels, not how you perform.
Instead of posed photos and perfect smiles, I photograph real interactions. So there’s a chance not all the photos will be with wide smiles, but they’ll definitely show the real character of your kids and the dynamics in your family.
The goal of the gallery is to tell the story of your family in this exact chapter of your life.
How long does a family photo session last?
We meed for 60-90 minutes. Depending on the flow we may finish after an hour, or sometimes add some slower paced moments to the end. We don’t need to rush, it’s enough to create variety of images and situations. And gives us time for breaks too, if needed.
