About me

Ania Hrycyna. MATERNITY, NEWBORN & FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER IN South London.

I’m a mum of two boys, Polish girl calling South London home since 2015. First and foremost I’m a photographer who believes real beauty lives in the messy, spontaneous moments. I create natural, storytelling photos for families who choose connection over perfection.

My why

Taking photos was always part of my life, but photography truly came into it after my second child was born, during lockdown. What started as a personal project quickly grew into a way of celebrating mums and honouring motherhood stories within my community, through my lens.

As mums, we take care of everything and everyone. Often taking the photos of our children, but rarely being in them ourselves. Through my work, I want to give mums beautiful photos of themselves with their children, and help them document the journey of motherhood – the sweet, heart-warming moments, as well as the lovely, messy ones.

When I’m not photographing, I’m probably out on a run (I recently finished my first London Half Marathon!), drinking coffee by the kitchen window in the early morning before the house wakes up, or reading a book (thrillers are my thing).

Realistically though, most days I’m tripping over my kids’ toys, trying to hack my ADHD, and depending on the season, discovering new hobbies and abandoning them just as quickly (hello diamond painting, houseplants, and sewing).

If you feel like we could be friends – say hello!

I know what it feels like to hate having your photo taken. I’ve been there.
But I also know how it feels to walk away from a session thinking,
“I never knew I could look like that, or feel like that.”

So that’s my promise:

to make this real, joyful, and honest and to leave you with more than photos.
I want you to feel seen.

Guidance from start to finish

From styling help and outfit planning to location ideas to making sure you feel confident on the day.

Sessions that feel like life, not a catalog

Whether we wander the city, cozy up in your home, or walk in a field.

A calm, easy experience

I’ll tell you where to stand, what to do with your hands, and how to interact. I make it simple, so you don’t have to overthink it.

Tailored storytelling

We don’t just pose; we build moments around what matters to you.

A few small things

  • I’m based in Coulsdon and I work across London, Surrey, Kent and East Sussex, but I’ll happily travel wherever your story takes you!
  • I keep things warm, clear, and straight to the point.
  • Sessions are guided, never stiff – think simple direction, natural interaction, real emotion.

As seen & shared

  • My World Breastfeeding Week project was largely covered in press (yay!), a few of my photos were also featured on PhotoVogue
  • Even if my clients arrive nervous, they’d leave saying “It was fun! Can we do it again?”

Random facts about me

  • I edit with RuPaul’s Drag Race on in the background.
  • I discovered at 39 that I most likely have ADHD, which changed everything for me.
  • When I need to focus, it’s hardcore techno in my headphones — even though my heart belongs to Britpop and indie.
  • I jumped out of a plane once, at 24. Loved it. Would never do it again.
  • I also have a Joy Division–inspired tattoo, which probably explains a lot.

In the Media

From my Kashubian roots to the streets of London, my photography is about identity, connection, and the human story.
Here is where I’ve shared my journey as both an artist and a storyteller.
